Aloha
Pierre Deladonchamps
Training in theatres but paying his dues on the screen. Sulky face and charming gaze tipically French. Careless and allure are this 38-years-old actor’s main traits: Pierre Deladonchamps is one of the new faces in french cinema and he’s gaining popularity worldwide. He won “The Most Promising Actor” prize at the César Awards for playing Franck’s role in the drama-thriller movie “Stranger by the lake”, which was also rewarded of the “Un Certain Regard“ section at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival; from there he rose to the top.
Aloha

For example, he performed in movie “Eternity” by Tran Anh Hung with costarring Bérénice Bejo and Audrey Tatou, he was nominated for “Best Actor” at César Awards for his main character in “Le fils de Jean” by Philippe Lioret and he was casted for “Nos Années Folles” by André Téchiné, presented at the 2017 edition of Cannes Film Festival.
Pierre is now working at his first short film as director, “Ames Soeurs” that will be shown in Cannes next year. Traveling is part of his career and so of his life, but he likes to travel alone to get in contact with new cultures.
□ Who’s the new traveler according to you?
In my opinion the new traveler has a much more adventurous soul and open mind; visiting museums, architecture and city sightseeings shouldn’t satisfy him at all. I think he wants more, getting to know the human side of the place he’s in, to establishing a connection with local people and their heritage.
□ In which way the massive presence of technology in today’s life has changed the natur of the traveler?
Technology makes travelling easier, maybe way too easy. With internet and smartphones, we’re constantly connected and in some ways in a comfort zone. I think it’s useful sometimes to feel lost…
□ Are you a traveler or a tourist?
When I was younger I was certainly traveler, but today I choose different paths. I used to go everywhere with no fixed plans, today for me comfort comes first. But I still want to discover unknown places, for sure those outside the mass tourism.
Furthermore I like to travel alone, it’s the best way to meet new people and really get to know their heritage.
□ How do you get ready for a new trip?
I have to admit I don’t get that ready. Yes to comfort, but I still don’t like to have everything fixed and defined. I like to have rooms for accident. Furthermore I like to travel alone, it’s the best way to meet new people and really get to know their heritage.
□ And for a movie? Do you get ready in the same way?
I read the script again and again to get accustomed to my character, his motivating forces and attitudes. I also like to keep some mystery. As I do in my trips.

I’ve been to the desert, in Morocco, to build up a base for a humanitarian mission. The goal was to install a motorbike rental station for tourists and locals (in that case for free).
□ Paul Grappe is a deserter from the First World War who pretends to be a woman to survive; it was your character in “Nos Années Folles”, based on a true story. How was it?
It was extraordinary. It was extremely difficult speaking of costumes and make-up, but I had a lot of fun. I was so deep in the character with such a deep identification that I was scared to see this character growing inside me, despite our differences.
□ You’re addicted to difficult and uncommon roles; what’s the most adventurous trip you’ve ever done?
I’ve been to the desert, in Morocco, to build up a base for a humanitarian mission. The goal was to install a motorbike rental station for tourists and locals (in that case for free).
□ And your next trip?
I’m very fascinated by South America. I’d like to discover Brazil, but also Chile, the enormous Argentina and Puerto Rico.
□ Last but not least, you will present “Âmes sœur”; what is it about?
I can’t tell much about the plot, but I can say it is about love, feelings and sexuality between four characters of twentyfive-thirty years old. I built up the story focusing on this group of four people, two men and two women. All this less than fifteen minutes of movie. It’s an interesting project with the spotlight on young french actors; screening in Cannes 15th May. ■
